Sunday
School Classes (all meet at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday)
Dough
Rollins Class
This Sunday School class started in May of 1946, when L.G.
Dickson organized a young adult Bible class. In 1978, the class
name was changed to Dough Rollins Class in honor of J.W. "Dough"
Rollins, who taught the class for 25 years. Today, the class remains
an integral part of the church, and has always maintained an outstanding
membership. Many have participated throughout the years with a
wonderful spirit of Christian fellowship.
Mary Means, Pianist; Priscilla McFarland, Secretary; and Sharon Smith,
President.
The
Dorcas Class
This class is a women's class, with members taking turns teaching
the lesson and leading the discussion. The class has, for many
years, provided Bibles for the children entering the third grade.
The class uses United Methodist materials and welcomes new members.
The
Family of Faith Class
This class consists of adults from 40-60. The class uses
United Methodist Adult Bible Study and other materials to discover God's
will for their lives.
The
College/Young Adult Class
This class includes young adults from 18-40, including college
students, although they say,
"17 to 41 would be welcome." The name reflects that
the class changes from week to week and is flexible and open to all
possibilities. Taught by the associate pastor, Dana Compton, the
lessons are based on an agreed-upon topic, alternating between the Bible
and United Methodism.
The
Friendship Class
This class is a varied group of singles and couples with children
whose ages range from middle school to adults. The class selects
the study materials and topics for discussion.
The
Community Class
This class is the newest adult Sunday School class, composed
of young married couples. They use an informal teaching format to discuss
the Bible one book at a time. This class sponsors the F.U.N. (Fellowship
Unity Night) each month, which includes a pot-luck dinner and fun activities
for the whole family.
